With more than 30 years of public safety experience, including nearly 27 years serving with the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office, Troy Skebo has built his career around protecting the community he calls home.

From progressing through the ranks of the Sheriff's Office to conducting complex investigations, testifying as a recognized expert in court, training new law enforcement officers, and developing advanced leadership skills, Troy has gained firsthand experience across many of the responsibilities required of a Sheriff.
Troy's experience has prepared him to lead the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office with professionalism, accountability, sound judgment, and proven leadership.

Investigative Experience
Throughout his career, Troy has developed specialized expertise in criminal investigations and evidence analysis.
His advanced training and investigative experience include:
- Narcotics and Gang Investigations
- ALERRT Active Shooter Training
- Crash Investigation
- Complex criminal investigations
- Evidence analysis and preparation for criminal prosecution
Troy has also been recognized by the courts as an expert in:
- Bloodstain Pattern Analysis
- Bullet Trajectory Analysis
- Trademark Infringement
His investigative work involving trademark infringement resulted in the seizure of more than $10 million in counterfeit products through investigations conducted across the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Training the Next Generation

Troy served as an instructor for new law enforcement recruits at the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy, helping prepare future officers for careers dedicated to protecting their communities.
As an instructor and mentor, Troy has been able to share lessons developed through decades of real-world law enforcement experience while reinforcing the professionalism, judgment, and responsibility expected of those entrusted with public safety.
